Gulls Take Flight! Alumni Spotlight:
Ximena Escobar (Class of 2017)
Ximena Escobar, a 2017 Honor Roll graduate of Warren-Walker School, went on to shine at Point Loma High School, both in and out of the classroom. She was able to continue to pursue her love of sailing at PLHS by joining the sailing team as a freshman. She sailed on the varsity team her sophomore through senior year.
She not only devoted her time and passion for academics and sailing, she also was the co-founder of Store to Door Groceries who delivered groceries to high-risk senior citizens during the Covid-19 pandemic. Feeling that Point Loma High School needed a national honors society, she co-founded the society at the high school. The final jewel in her crown of accomplishments was when she was awarded Valedictorian of her Senior Class in 2021.

This fall, she will be attending Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. Ximena said, “Yale wasn’t originally on my list of schools until late junior year when I realized I could be recruited to one of, if not the best collegiate sailing team in the country. Fortunately, for me, it’s also an amazing school that allows students to take their time to try out different fields of interest before deciding on a major. I am currently leaning toward the Economics/Business route.”

The Yale Sailing Club was established in 1881, the oldest sailing club in the world. It has a stellar reputation and the Yale Bulldogs are members of the New England Intercollegiate Sailing Association which is part of the Intercollegiate Sailing Association.

Sail on, Ximena, sail on!
